Work on certain sections of Corridor Vc has been temporarily suspended due to non-payment to contractors, but the funds will, according to announcements by the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, be operational by the end of the week.
On Tuesday, after the first day of the International Economic Forum on Corporate Governance in Dubrovnik, Nikšić said that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development had made a decision to pay the funds needed to continue the work.
“The decision to pay was made yesterday and it will take two to three days for the funds to be operational. They will be paid to the contractors who earned it by Friday at the latest,” said Nikšić.
He added that the amount involved is around 96 million euros, the payment of which had been expected for about ten days, but there was a delay due to administrative procedures.
“We cannot expect the contractors to finance the construction of the motorway. These are EBRD funds and now, now that the decision has been made, we expect the payment to be made by the end of this week,” stressed Nikšić.
