The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, met today at the headquarters of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo with the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Arnhild Spence.

Resident coordinator Spence pointed out during the meeting that the United Nations, with its 19 organizations, has been achieving good cooperation with the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a number of years. She emphasized that their mission is development, with the aim of helping all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that they work to achieve sustainable development through support to local authorities.

She praised the activities of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in this mandate, particularly highlighting the achieved results related to reducing poverty and strengthening inclusiveness. She said that this Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has achieved a lot in the realization of the goals of sustainable development.

Prime Minister Nikšić thanked the resident coordinator Spence for the expressed interest and pointed to the fact that this Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina managed to focus on issues concerning the standard of living of all citizens. He pointed out that progress has been made when it comes to the minimum wage, the protection of workers’ rights, as well as the rights of pensioners, and that this is the first government that has managed to relieve employers by reducing the total contribution rate, while at the same time maintaining a focus on infrastructure projects.

When asked by the resident coordinator Spence in which segments the support of the UN is needed, energy transition and environmental protection projects were highlighted during the conversation.

During the meeting, the current socio-economic and political situation was discussed, and the interlocutors pointed out that the engagement of the UN so far is of great importance for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that there is a common interest in future cooperation, the FBiH Government Office for Public Relations announced.
