Nikšić Spoke with Members of IMF Mission

The Prime Minister of the FBiH Nermin Nikšić, along with his colleagues, received the members of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the headquarters of the Federal government in Sarajevo. Ron van Rooden led the IMF delegation.

The goal of their visit to BiH is the second review of the Stand-by Arrangement (SBA).

The Prime Minister spoke to his guests about the ongoing process of no-confidence in the FBiH government in the FBiH Parliament.

They specifically pointed to the conclusions of the House of Representatives according to which the Government in its current session has to continue to settle current issues and must not take on new international financial obligations, and with it the program expenditure of funds has to be submitted to the Federal Parliament.

Ron van Rooden expressed satisfaction again with the IMF and the fact that this year’s budget was adopted before the end of 2012.

‘’If there was skepticism earlier in the Board of Directors of the IMF that this would be done, in December the skepticism disappeared’’, said Rooden. He added that the preliminary results at the second examination pertaining to the state budget of the FBiH are promising.

They fully agreed on the essentials of the soon to be implemented Law on Retirement under favorable conditions.

“We need this law, but only because we agreed to this decision with the IMF, but also for ourselves and those who are concerned with fiscal stability’’, said Nikšić. He stressed that the financial aspect of this law cannot leave outside the given budget dimensions.

Van Rooden expressed his satisfaction that the FBiH government, by preparing the text of this law, held to suggestions of the IMF, but also by the government’s commitment to the necessity of their unquestionable decision.
