No Member State of the European Union joined the proposed US sanctionsa gainst the Milorad Dodik, , diplomatic sources in Brussels confirmed for Al Jazeera.
Today, the regular meeting of the working group of diplomats of the Member States of the Union was held, and among other issues, the issue of the EU’s sanctions to Dodik was discussed as well.
The meeting was completed and diplomats unanimously agreed to continue to closely monitor developments in the Republika Srpska and none of them had proposed joining the US sanctions.
Sanctions o Milorad Dodik were introduced a few days ago, and the US Ambassador to BiH, Maureen Cormack, explained such decision as a Dodik’s violation of decisions of the Constitutional Court.
“Dodik continues a dialogue on the division of BiH. A threat of a referendum on secession and other things that Dodik does are in violation of the rule of law. We believe that this process should be completed in order for BiH to continue on the EU path. This does not mean that we do not care about negative rhetorics of other politicians in BiH, “explained Cormack.
As a result of the sanctions, every part of the property of Milorad Dodik, and that is in the possession of US persons or who are located within the United States, have to be blocked.
