fuHead of the Epidemiology Department of Public Health Institute of the FB&H Zeljko Ler said that we cannot talk about the epidemic of AH1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, at the moment.

He says that, according to previous data, the occurrence of influenza has not exceeded long-term averages, while the number of reported cases is almost two times lower than it was in the same period last year.

“Certainly there is the flu, as confirmed by several patients that are hospitalized at the University Clinical Centre in Sarajevo, where the disease was confirmed and who are retained for treatment due to the complications of influenza,” said Ler.

Considering the current trend of the disease, Ler does not foresee the occurrence of influenza in extensive epidemic form in the season 2015/2016.

Speaking on measures of protection, Ler advised vaccination against influenza with vaccine recommended by the World Health Organization, which contains the current types of flu pathogens, including the type AH1N1.
