Paralympic team of BiH in sitting volleyball arrived today in Sarajevo after the performance at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Most successful BH national team has achieved three wins and two defeats in a total of five meetings at this year’s Paralympic Games. During the group stage, they beat the teams of Ukraine and China with maximum results, and they defeated the national team of Egypt in the semifinals. Representation of Iran, which won the gold medal at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this year, defeated BH team twice – once in the group stage of the competition and the second time in the finals.

The final result was 3: 1 in favor of Iran (25:21, 21:25, 25:18, 25:15), which came to a sixth gold at the Paralympic Games with this victory in the finals, and BH team won the silver medals.

The road to the finals was really difficult for this team, and although they did not defend the title, fans around the BiH and their own team members cannot be unhappy with this great result of BiH team in sitting volleyball, especially with its rich history of success at the Paralympic Games.

“We fought, we won a silver medal, although we secretly hoped for gold when we entered the finals. I have not forgotten and will never forget the third set, when I asked my colleagues to take a lead, but we have not found the strength and unfortunately we were defeated. However, new victories are before us and we’re going to prepare for them,” said Safet Alibasic.

Today’s press conference was attended by the Minister for Culture and Sport of Canton Sarajevo, Mirvad Kuric, who said:

“Our golden boys are always golden for us. Thank you!”
