Mayor of Banja Luka, Drasko Stanivukovic, hosted yesterday the Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic, with whom he discussed numerous topics and cooperation between the two cities during this first official meeting.

“This is a visit of historical significance, which will have the greatest impact on the future. Today, new generations are sending new messages, messages of peace and outstretched hands. Issues from our past, on which we have different views, should not be a stumbling block to our present and the future we are building,” said Mayor Stanivukovic.

This visit today, he says, is not just a protocol visit, but a “friendly handshake of two young people who run the two largest cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

The topics of meeting in the City Administration of Banja Luka, as he stated, were economy, culture, sports, economy and cooperation in many fields, from which the citizens of the two cities will benefit. Among other things, the plan is for the two cities to present their tourist potentials together on the international scene, but also to cooperate in other areas.

As announced by the mayor, the City of Banja Luka will give the City of Sarajevo a fountain.

The Mayor of Sarajevo, with gratitude for the hospitality, pointed out that too much time had passed without an official meeting of the leaders of the two largest cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that today’s meeting was writing pages of history and pages of the future.

She emphasized that Sarajevo is a city of sports, culture and beauty and that she always says the same thing about Banja Luka.

Karic announced that Sarajevo would symbolically give the citizens of Banja Luka a children’s park with an equipped children’s playground.
