On the oldest Educational Program in South East Europe, PRO.PR Conference

pro conferencePRO.PR Conference is not for everyone involved in communications, but it is specialized for leaders and ambitious people who want business networking, to establish cooperation and get to know one another in accordance with the slogan. Our aim is not to host a mass of people. We focus on contents, not form, said Danijel Koletić, President of the Organizing Committee of the 13th PRO.PR Conference, which will be held from April 22 to 25 on the island Krk.

Koletić emphasized that PRO.PR Conference is the oldest educational program in South East Europe, and that specialized conferences for public relations no longer exist.

“Mass events took place in the meantime, which focus on marketing, advertising or even all forms of communication. Knowledge is the engine for development of society, but also for progress in business. You can learn something new at every conference, only question is what conference you want to choose. For some, conferences are still a place of vacation, not place of education. There are plenty of educational programs, even too many in some states, whereas in others, like in Macedonia, Montenegro, even BiH, there is a lack of conferences,“ emphasized Koletić.

Asked to comment on PR being identified with propaganda and marketing, which we often see in BiH and neighboring countries, Koletić said that most of the time media outlets do not separate news which announce new product from classic marketing.

“A lot of room in the media is given to politics or sports. Small and medium entrepreneurship almost does not exist. There are no good news that will have such stories, there are exceptions, and Goran Milić introduced first such stories in his series. That should be encouraging, but also a conclusion that not everything is marketing, but that a good PR story is basis for further negotiations on renting media space. Many media houses unfortunately sell PR and live off it, but then there is a question if that media outlet is a catalogue source of paid stories or an independent source of information. The biggest challenge which goes in favor of public relations is a communication strategy on social networks,“ he concluded.

Distinguished Croatian PR experts and consultants, as well as media and PR employees from the region have already confirmed their attendance and participation in workshops in Malinska on island Krk. Registration process for participation in the conference is still open.
