Oldschool Street Race this Weekend in Mostar!

The auto-moto club Extreme from Mostar is organizing a spectacle on the additional runway of the Mostar Airport this weekend on August 12 and 13, which will include accelerating races on 402 meters as well as other attractions for car lovers. Oldschool Street Race attracts the attention of the whole region, and they expect more than 10 000 visitors.

“We have been organizing the Championship of BiH in the discipline A10 for more than a decade, which is officially recognized by the World Motorcycle Organization, and it is an acceleration race between two cars at 402 meters. It might sound funny for some, but they can come to see what Golf 4 looks like with 650 horses, in which was invested more than 20 000 EUR,” said Jozef Ambroz, a spokesperson for AMK Extreme from Mostar, and noted that the races are taking place on more liberal old-school rules.

These are the cars in which are incorporated advanced technologies like in the F1, as well as a similar amount of money to get 650 horsepower out of a two-liter engine, which speaks enough about the attraction of these races. Besides the Championship of BiH, a regional championship will take place as well.

“We will also have stylists, the competition in car styling called Street Style, as well as dB Drag. A dB Drag is a competition in the strength of music in the car. You will be able to enter a car with 150 decibels strong music, which is the strength that makes people dizzy, and it is very interesting and attractive for car lovers,” said Josko Ambroz.

“We are afraid that the auxiliary runway in Kosor will be too small because we have people coming from all over the region. There are more people coming from Sarajevo than from Mostar, and we also have visitors from Croatia, Serbia, and Slovenia. We are expecting more than 10 000 visitors, and as far as the participants are concerned, the best in the region will be here,” noted Ambroz, who added that this Mostar competition is in the regional top.

Ambruz also believes that the street race in our country is on the rise, as well as the entire auto-moto sport.

“On the track in Kosor was recorded one of the best times set by Dario Konopek, 8.9 seconds, which crashed the prejudice that we cannot drive sections for less than 10 seconds,” said Ambruz. ”

“We are planning a lot of prize games for the weekend, the boxing champion Damir Beljo will open the event, the price of the ticket will be 5 BAM, and the entrance for girls is free. Registration fee is 50 BAM, and everyone can apply from 8 AM to 10.30 AM. The spectators are recommended to come before 11 AM and all the events will be available on the live stream as well,” said Jozef Ambruz.
