Olympic Pool Otoka offers various activities for relaxation, enjoying and recreation, and they also have special offers during the summer. Many people are coming to this pool before and after work to relax and elderly people have the opportunity to enjoy the pleasures of the water as well.
Action “Summer at the Olympic pool” is taking place under the motto “If you love yourself – swim” within the framework which offers a variety of benefits for the users of pool – from individual, weekly and quarterly tickets, to organized schools for swimming. There are aqua aerobics, gym, sauna and terrace for sunbathing for those who like to relax and want to be in top shape.
“At the pool are cyclically held sporting events in swimming and water polo. The most recent activity was the organization of BiH national championship in swimming for all ages and categories of competitors. The event was organized in cooperation with the Swimming Association of BiH and a total of 20 clubs with about 300 competitors that participated on the event,” said Nurko Causevic, PR of PE Olympic Pool Otoka.
One of the main objectives of this pool is to reduce the number of non-swimmers. Since the opening of the pool 8 years ago, the number of children who cannot swim is drastically reduced, and back then it was close to 95 %.
Visits are increasing from year to year, and the Olympic pool Otoka strives to be a center for the development of water sports. Underwater photography exhibition that was organized in cooperation with diving club attracted a lot of attention, and they are planning to implement such activities in the coming period as well.
“We are satisfied with the visit, which is greater than on the beginning. Swimming is part of the general culture. The Olympic Pool Sarajevo strives that swimming and a sense of healthy lifestyle become part of habits of the citizens of Sarajevo,” said Causevic.
The pool is divided into three categories: a part for the swimming clubs, part for recreationists and part for water polo clubs. There is also a project for the elderly people “Sarajevo, healthy city, which is supported by the city administration and you can see older people swimming at the pool every day. People are coming from around Sarajevo to use the pool, and the management of the pool recently received information that some persons are coming from Mostar.
“Water is a medium that has a beneficial effect on the human body, and swimming is not only good for the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Today, swimming works as therapy for stress and depression, which more or less everyone is facing with. People who work in diplomatic missions and international organizations come at 7 am, swim for an hour, and then go to work. The Olympic swimming pool can satisfy the needs of those who want to take care of their healthy lifestyle and be in top shape. In terms of quality, we are the safest bathing place in CS with high standards of safety and hygiene,” said Causevic, and added that the control of water is done twice a week and there have never deviated from the standard.
“Swimming school will be continued, then we will have an international meeting for young people and the International Championship in water polo, where we gather the most successful clubs in Europe. During the winter, we have action ‘Winter at the Olympic pool’ in which we offer a number of benefits for our customers,” concluded Causevic.
