On the Way to Cairo: Another BiH Citizen evacuated from Gaza

Near the Rafah Border Crossing, there are 14 Bosnian and Herzegovinian (BiH) citizens and their relatives who are waiting for approval to leave the war-affected area. BiH citizen Munira Hagag has been waiting for approval since October 25th. According to the information, she and her husband are on the red list.

“It would mean a lot to us if we could leave Gaza, for me and my children to be saved. We are ordinary people, civilians, we have no contact with the army. Our first neighbors were killed, over 30 of them,” Munira Hagag stated.

Her son crossed the border crossing yesterday. He is traveling to Cairo, and there are six other people there who are BiH citizens or their relatives, confirmed Sabit Subasic, Ambassador of BiH in Cairo. There are four children among them. They are finally safe. They will stay there until they get permission to come to BiH.

It is very dramatic in Gaza, and it is less and less safe in the West Bank as well, where some BiH citizens live.

“There is constant bombing, shooting, the sound of gunshots… children live in constant fear. They don’t go to school now. We hope that this way of life will stop and that we will live in peace”, explains Muhamed, who lives in the city of Jenin.

Peace is the wish of all civilians. The war only brought them unprecedented stress, the death of their loved ones, and daily suffering. At the same time, the ambassadors say that they are doing their utmost to help all BiH citizens to leave the war-affected areas, N1 reports.
