Milk for Miners oslobodjenje.ba“Today we give our milk to the black, but golden hands of Bosnian miners”, said Kemal Hrnjić, the director of the Dairy Meggle at a central event, marking the World Milk Day at the mine Breza.

On the occasion of World Milk Day 2015, the domestic Dairy Meggle organized the socially beneficial action ”Black and White Gold”, through which it donated a total of 35.000 liters of milk to the miners in thirteen mines.

“With this action, we wish to draw public attention to the demanding and not at all easy work performed by miners in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a known fact that electricity is the most important export product of our country, but do we know that a precondition for its production lies in coal-the black gold? Around 9.000 miners daily perform hard work of coal exploitation out of the cave and surface mines. In this work, they do not spare themselves, and with its beneficial properties milk helps them to maintain the health of the respiratory tract. This is just a symbolic gesture with which we would like to say-thank you”, Hrnjić added.

In honor of the diggers of ”the black gold”, Meggle distributors have been working diligently to donate this highly appreciated liquid to thirteen active BH mines including: Breza, Kakanj, Zenica, Đurđevik, Gračanica, Abid Lolić, Kreka, Banovići, Gacko, Terex Kop, Stanari, Ugljevik and Miljevina.

“We welcome the Meggle action which is one of the best ways to promote the importance of [a] healthy and balanced diet, especially for miners whose call is difficult and challenging. On behalf of the Board and all employees of the Mine, I would like to thank the company Meggle”, said Suad Ćosić, the Director of the Subsidiary Company Black Coal Mine Breza.

In parallel with the celebration of World Milk Day at the mine Breza, the day was observed in the mine Ugljevik as well. As she was handing over the milk donation for 305 miners at Ugljevik, Jadranka Penava, General Manager of the company Meggle Bosnia and Herzegovina, pointed out that Meggle continues the tradition of providing this healthy drink to groups with an increased need for the food item.
