Jajce waterfallPliva waterfall in the center of Jajce city, one of twelve most beautiful ones in the world, originated 50.000 years ago. And after so many years, it is impossible to pass through the part of the road that goes through Jajce, and not to admire such natural beauty. Jajce has been changing through history, governments were changing, but the waterfall remained the same. Beautiful and proud defies time and conquerors which there were many.

Waterfall existed before Jajce city. According to the amount of travertine, it is considered that the waterfall originated from 50.000 years ago. There is a story that Hrvoje Vukcic Hrvatinic, when establishing the city, wrote a letter to his wife and said that he will make the most beautiful city in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Tourist guide in the PE “Institute for cultural, historical and natural heritage and development of tourist potential of Jajce”, Amir Basimamovic said that the waterfall in this city is one of the most beautiful in the world and is unique because it is located in the center of the town.

Citizens of Jajce are surely proud on this natural beauty.

“It has to be emphasized that the waterfall occurred naturally. Due to the reduction in the flow of the river Pliva, there was a possibility of collapse of waterfall. But the reconstruction has been done, and around 9 million BAM has been invested in the riverbed of Pliva”, said Basimamovic.

Huso Hadzic, the director of PE “Institute for cultural, historical and natural heritage and development of tourist potential of Jajce”, said that, according to their estimations, between 80.000 and 100.000 tourists visited Jajce in 2013.

Most visitors come from BiH, Croatia and Slovenia, but when it comes to Europe, there is no country from which tourists are not coming here.
