One Croatian Citizen charged of illicit International Transportation and Holding of Drugs

A prosecutor of the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed an indictment against Marijana Bilic, born in 1979 in Ploče Municipality, Republic of Croatia, citizen of the Republic of Croatia.

The defendant is charged that in the period from 2015 to 2019, in the territory of BiH, with an intention to acquire illicit property gain and to increase her marital property, after a larger quantity of the narcotic drug cannabis was arranged and transported from the Republic of Albania via Montenegro, she, as a spouse, assisted in the storage and repacking of the narcotic drugs for the purpose of their further transportation and sale in the Republic of Croatia.

According to the allegations from the indictment, the defendant was involved in the criminal activity in such a way that she secured the site and assisted in the transportation and storage of the narcotic drugs when her husband, at the location of their family house, would take over the narcotic drugs from to him known persons, organise their storage and repacking for the purpose of their further transportation and sale.

The defendant is charged with having intentionally removed obstacles for the perpetrator of the criminal offence of illicit international transportation and holding of the substance declared by regulations as a narcotic drug for the purpose of its further sale, as well as with having hidden the perpetrator, means used to commit the criminal offence, leads of the criminal offence and items obtained through the criminal offence, whereby she committed the criminal offence of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs in violation of Article 195 (1) of the Criminal Code of BiH in conjunction with Article 31 of the same Code.

During investigative operations, significant cooperation was established with the partner institutions of the Republic of Croatia and persons related to the defendant have been prosecuted in the judicial institutions of Croatia.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
