Very significant assistance in medical and protective equipment for Bosnia and Herzegovina arrived at the Sarajevo International Airport on Tuesday.

The Embassy of Qatar in BiH announced today that one of the largest planes landed at the airport on the order of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, according to Vijesti.ba news portal.

Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic stressed that Qatar is the only Arab country to have sent an aid plane to Bosnia and Herzegovina so far, despite the fact that it is facing a much more difficult pandemic situation than BiH.

Turkovic said that she was honored to thank the people of Qatar and the ruler of that country.

This assistance is intended for hospitals in BiH and will be distributed through the Crisis Staff, said Turkovic.

She pointed out that there are many more infected people in Qatar than in BiH, and that they have nevertheless found a way and strength to help BiH. The manager of affairs of the Qatari embassy addressed himself because the ambassador to Qatar.

“Regardless of the fact that Qatar is also affected by the virus, we wanted to help our friends, BiH. This is protective equipment that is needed during surgeries,” he explained. The aid arrived on a Dreamliner Boeing 787, one of the largest civilian planes to ever land in BiH.

The received aid is mostly intended for intensive care, and Minister Turkovic said that it is a very sophisticated medical equipment worth six million BAM.
