One Person charged over Illicit Trade in Excise Products

A prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed an indictment against Mladen Simeunović, born in 1970 in Brčko, previously convicted, a citizen of BiH.

The indictee is charged with the fact that on 27 April 2016 he unlawfully placed into circulation a larger quantity of produced, cut tobacco in the territory of BiH, which was not marked with control and tax labels in the manner as stipulated by the tax legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the indictment, the indictee dealt in the illicit trade in excise products by preparing tobacco in a form suitable for consumption and selling it to customers in his house for profit, without having any documentation for the tobacco.

During the search, authorized officials have found and seized a total of 530 kilograms of cut tobacco.

The amount of excise duty and tax on the mentioned quantity of tobacco amounts to more than 50,000.

The indictee is charged with having committed the criminal offense of Illicit Trade in Excise Products in violation of Article 210a (1) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
