One woman died this evening in Brčko during the severe stormy weather that affected this area of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
More than 20 people requested medical help, said the spokesperson of the Public Health Institution, Sead Šadić.
He stated that the emergency service had seven interventions and that it was a question of minor injuries caused by a fall or being hit by a blunt object.
The wind in Brčko uprooted trees, broke branches, damaged several cars, and there were two fires, the Operational and Communication Center of the Brčko District said.
A fire broke out in a house, and according to the first information, it was caused by a lightning strike. All the firefighting units are on the ground and are working on the clearing.
An unprecedented storm started today in the afternoon from Slovenia, then roared through Croatia via Zagreb, and then strong wind, rain and thunder “moved” to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
The storm claimed one life in Slovenia and three in Croatia. The wind carried roofs, felled trees and cut off road communication, while heavy rainfall formed water torrents and many drivers were stuck in the water.
In BiH, the northern and northwestern parts of the country are the most affected. Stormy weather is also expected during the night.
The storm caused great material damage in Krajina, Posavina and Tuzla Canton, and hail also fell in the vicinity of Zenica, Klix.ba reports.
