Opening of the Month of Italian Photography in BiH

The Embassy of Italy in Sarajevo proudly presented the “Month of Italian Photography in BiH”. It will be inaugurated with the exhibition “Borderline – Frontiers of Peace” by Valerio Vincenzo on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 7:00PM in the Historical Museum of BiH .

This exhibition will present the little-known scenes of the border regions of different European countries, where the state borders represent just imaginary lines fused with the nature and configuration of its surroundings. Our traditional perception of state border as a place of separation, therefore, leaves a notion for a concept of unity and the point of transition, which is more than common for everyday life of millions of citizens of the EU. Therefore, in this perspective, the Embassy of Italy confirmed its support for initiatives that are aimed at the promotion of the value of meeting and cooperation.

After its presentation all over Europe, including Croatia, this exhibition will be in Sarajevo and for the first time it will be enriched with photographs that the author made last summer on unexpected borders of BiH and some of our neighbouring countries.

“Borderline” represents just the first in a series of initiatives in the field of photography, which the Embassy of Italy will promote during the month of April. On this occasion, photographer Valerio Vincenzo, who was specially invited, will meet with students from Sarajevo to explain how the project of a professional photographer is created and developed over time. This will take place as part of a wider debate on the topic of significance of state borders in our modern society, as well as in the light of the Balkan region’s European perspective.
