“Pitchwise” (PW), the festival of women’s art and activism in B&H, gathering artists and activists of all generations across the country and the world was open yesterday in the Museum of literature and theatre in Sarajevo.
The main theme of the PitchWise 2014 is “Waves of feminism – woman’s history and feministic heritage in the 21st century.”
This theme is related to the first three waves of feminism and the presentation of the fourth wave. One of the key characteristics of this year’s PitchWise is to focus on the participation of woman in the positive social changes, movements and revolutions as a global woman’s movement.
This year, the festival will open the space to present all these waves of feminism across the world and will focus on women’s resistance to all patriarchal and hetero normative systems as well as on the topic of woman around the world creating movements and discussing misogyny issues in their working environments and made changes in societies which do not recognize them as equal members.
Vildana Džekman, the activist in the Foundation “Cure” explained that this year’s festival is under the motto “Misogyny, step back!”
“We tried to see where are we today and what do the young female activists do around the world to improve the status of women in their local communities, countries and in general. This year we will return to the past in order to remember women in the past from B&H and the region” – said Džekman.
More than 50 female artists, musicians, theoreticians, workshop leaders, writers and feminism activists from B&H, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Kosovo, Mexico, Germany, Sweden, Great Britain and Lebanon will present their works at this year’s PitchWise.
The festival brings numerous exhibitions, creative workshops, lectures, performances, plays, book promotions, discussions, concerts, partying, screening…
