The Organizing Committee of the Diplomatic Winter Bazaar 2018, held in December last year, will allocate 212,000 BAM to organizations dedicated to working with children and young people, whether they are children with special needs, children who are raised without parental care or under difficult conditions or who are in necessary financial assistance to continue education.

As announced by the organizers, SOS Children’s Village of BiH in Srebrenica will be given 10,000 BAM, Franciscan International Student Center in Sarajevo 25.000 BAM, Education builds BiH Sarajevo 15,000 BAM, Los Rosales in Mostar 27,000 BAM, Down sy and us from Banja Luka 20,000 BAM, Give us a chance from Sarajevo 10,000 BAM, Friendly House from Doboj 10,000 BAM, Heart for children with cancer in Tuzla 25,000 BAM.

Funds were also obtained from the Association of Supporters for Children and Parents Buducnost from Sarajevo 15,000 BAM, Growing together from Gacko 5,000 BAM, Lotos 5,000 BAM, Children’s Center Gnijezdo from Bosansko Grahovo 10,000 BAM, etc.

The largest annual fund-raising diplomatic event, the Diplomatic Winter Bazaar, gathered over 40 embassies and 70 exhibitors with the purpose of raising money for charitable projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This year’s proceedings will be given to three types of disadvantaged children: children with special needs, orphaned children, and vulnerable students and youth.

Visitors to the EU stand had the opportunity to make cherished memories in the Winter Wonderland photo session, and try their luck in the Reindeer Ring Toss and Poke a Tree activities. In addition, the staff of the EU Delegation to BiH/Office of the EU Special Representative in BiH, and EU Info Centre, prepared interactive and interesting gifts and activities in order to raise funds for charity.

Last year, the Bazaar raised more than 200,000 BAM and supported over 20 organisations, and, based on the variety of activities, success and number of visitors this year, the organisers hope they will break last year’s record.

Bazaar is a traditional winter family charity event organized by members of the international community in BiH in cooperation with local communities and the bazaar was supported by Sarajevo Canton Government and the City of Sarajevo.

Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka commended engagement and effort put in this project.

“All diplomatic offices in Sarajevo, all the lovely ladies, ambassadors’ wives who take part in this humanitarian mission showed they are willing to become part of our community,” said Skaka, fully supporting this mission.
