Floods recede in BosniaA new short film featuring first-hand accounts of the devastating floods in May 2014 and immediate responses at several sites across Bosnia and Herzegovina was released by the OSCE Mission to BiH on 18 August 2014. The documentary, “Once the water recedes: The 2014 floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the aftermath of a natural disaster”, highlights the shortcomings and struggles in the wake of the floods.

The documentary aims to raise awareness of the ongoing situation across the country, which is still critical in some locations and further compounded by more flooding and landslides in August 2014. The film highlights the OSCE Mission’s calls for authorities across BiH to work in the best interests of affected citizens and to ensure a fair and transparent process of aid distribution and support to victims.

In assisting with the recovery effort, the OSCE Mission in July opened additional temporary premises in some of the most affected areas. These continue to be operational in Bijeljina, Maglaj, Orašje, Šamac and Prijedor and add to the Mission’s existing structure of 11 field offices in BiH.
