Dunja_MijatovicOSCE media freedom representative Dunja Mijatović today condemned a recent physical attack on journalist Sinan Alić.

“Attacks on journalists must not go unpunished. I trust that the authorities will conduct a thorough and swift investigation and bring those responsible to justice,” Mijatović said.

According to media reports, Alić was attacked in Tuzla on 25 January. Alić suffered head injuries and was taken to the hospital where he received treatment for his injuries. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton announced that it had launched an investigation into the attack.

In November 2013, Alić had received a number of threatening text messages.

“As this is no isolated matter, I sincerely hope that the authorities will do everything possible to prevent such harassment and violence from becoming a trend in the future,” Mijatović said.
