Over 205 Thousand Tourists visited BiH in September

In Bosnia and Herzegovina in September 2024, tourists made 205,609 visits, which is 17.2 percent less compared to August 2024 and 8.1 percent more compared to September last year.

Tourists spent 404,790 overnight stays in BiH in September, which is 26.3 percent less compared to August 2024 and 7.2 percent more than September last year.

In the total number of overnight stays, the participation of domestic tourists is 26.9 percent, while the participation of foreign tourists is 73.1 percent.

The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists in September was lower by 22.3 percent compared to August 2024 and lower by 6.8 percent compared to the same month last year.

The number of overnight stays of foreign tourists in September was 27.7 percent lower than in August 2024 and 13.5 percent higher than in the same month last year, according to data from the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In September 2024, in the structure of the foreign tourist overnight stays, the highest number of overnight stays were recorded by tourists from Serbia with 11.1 percent, Turkey with 10.7 percent, Croatia with 8.6 percent, Saudi Arabia with 6.5 percent, Germany with 4.7 percent, Slovenia and Poland with 4.6 percent each, the USA with 4.4 percent, China with 4.3 percent and France with 3.8 percent, representing 63.3 percent of the total number of overnight stays. Tourists from other countries accounted for 36.7 percent of overnight stays.

The net occupancy rate for rooms in September 2024 was 39.9 percent and for permanent beds 30.7 percent, while in September 2023 the occupancy rate for rooms was 39.8 percent and for permanent beds 30.7 percent.

By type of accommodation facility the largest number of overnight stays was achieved within the hotels and Similar Accommodation sector with a share of 94.0 percent.
