The program of marking the 130th anniversary of the construction of the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin in Zenica started with the exhibition of the icons of the same church in the City Museum Zenica.
Besides the photographs about the birth of the Holy Virgin and her life, the liturgical church vessels which are located in the Orthodox Church in Zenica were also presented within the yesterday’s exhibition.
The City Museum Zenica hosted the yesterday’s exhibition, and the director of the Museum, Adnadin Jasarevic, said that yesterday’s exhibition was an excellent opportunity for the citizens of Zenica to become familiar with the richness of the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin.
“Our job is primarily to show the truth and protect the heritage. The truth we are showing is not colored with ideology, politicking, we present things as they are. Today, in this exhibition, we present the Temple of the Birth of the Holy Virgin, and all who were not able to stop off into the temple to see what riches we possess in Zenica, today have the opportunity to see all this. We must never forget that, in the mornings in this city, one can hear both the call for prayer and the church bells. This is a city that should not close doors, but open them, we should gain knowledge and not prejudices, and that is what programs like this serve for”, Jasarevic said.
On behalf of the religious officials, the Friar Zdravko Andjic, mato Males, Don Ivan Lovric, Josip Gudiljak, Milan Dzukic, and Kenan Hodzic attended the program at the Museum yesterday.
The parson of Zenica Mato Males said that several religious, educational, and entertaining programs will be held within the marking of the 130th anniversary of construction of the Temple of the Birth of the Holy Virgin.
“These are significant icons for us, and here, today we demonstrated them in the Museum in order for people to become familiar with them. We plan to organize several more manifestations until September 21st, such as forums, concerts in the Bosnian National Theatre, sacred liturgies, and formal academies”, Males concluded.
