Palmer and Eichorst: We must do Everything so that the Situation in BiH does not escalate

The United States supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we will do everything we can to ensure that the current political crisis does not deepen, said Matthew Palmer, a senior US State Department official in charge of electoral reform in BiH.

“We have carefully monitored the tensions of the last weeks, we must do everything so that the situation does not escalate,” Palmer pointed out.

As he stated, they are ready to provide support to BiH in order to resolve key judgments of the European Court.

“We are partners and we do not advocate one-sided and one solution. We are creating parameters for possible solutions for politicians in BiH,” Palmer said, adding that they are open to continue talks with BH politicians.

Director of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Angelina Eichorst, after a meeting with representatives of political parties in BiH and members of the Presidency of BiH, said that resolving the political crisis and amending the BiH Election Law is a difficult task.

“We have direct guidance from our headquarters, responsibility and urgency of action. We have set a framework around which negotiations should begin,” Eichorst said.

According to her, it is necessary to ensure that everyone is involved in the process, including the Venice Commission.
