Paragliders from Many Countries on the ‘Sarajevo Open Air 2016’

paraglidersParagliders from BiH, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro have applied to the competition in precise landing with paragliders “Sarajevo Open Air 2016”, which will be held from the 19th to 21st of August on Bjelasnica.

This was confirmed by president of paragliding club “Extreme Sport Sarajevo” Mirvad Zenuni, who expects applications of competitors from other countries in the region and beyond, since the competition has international character.

“In order to join the competition, it is necessary to possess national pilot licenses issued by the competent institutions of their country, and sport/competition licenses with a valid FAI stamp for the current year, issued by the National Aero Club of BiH or the country from which they are coming if they want their points to be FAI approved,” said Zenuni.

Considering that a number of local “experienced” pilots are interested for the competition and they do not have a permission, he emphasized that they can compete with a certificate, i.e. proof of instructors, president of the club or responsible person of the club that they are experienced enough for independent flight and that the club is responsible for them.

“Persons who are not registered for the competition or revue flight will be forbidden to fly as well as to use ski-lift transport and access to private cars. Obstruction of competitors during take-off, flight and landing will be strictly punishable,” stated Zenuni.

The opening ceremony of the competition will be organized in the club hut “Extreme Sport”, which is located in Babin Dol, right next to the landing site.

“We invite all lovers of paragliding to join us on the 19th of August at the opening of the competition, when they will have the opportunity to get acquainted with other competitors and exchange their experiences in this sport,” said Zenuni.

Club “Extreme Sport Sarajevo” is a member of the National Aero Club of BiH, which is an active member of the FAI (The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale – The World Air Sports Federation).

Besides organizing “Sarajevo Open Air 2016”, activities of the club are focused on the promotion and expansion of paragliding in BiH through school and training of new pilots.
