We will not support the one-time decisions of the High Representative Christian Schmidt, is the conclusion of the meeting of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the NES with the expanded Trojka, held in the Federal Parliament. They invited the Constitutional Commission to schedule a session as soon as possible and offer a potential solution for the formation of the Federal Government. They also announced consultations with the legal team of High Representative Christian Schmidt, during this week in the Office of the High Representative (OHR).
Intensive negotiations on the formation of the government in the Federation of BiH (FBiH) continued. On the table before the political actors is a question – how to reach an agreement on the appointment of a new convocation of the Federal Government? A new round of talks was launched at the initiative of the Party for BiH and NES, with a focus on changes to the Constitution of the FBiH. The session of the Constitutional Commission is still not scheduled, and the Party for BiH does not hide that they want it this week – which could be of crucial importance for the unraveling of the complicated political situation at the Federal level. A series of meetings of the Party for BiH and NES began with coalition partners.
In addition to the amendments to the Constitution of the FBiH, the focus of the discussion was also the potential decisions of the high representative. Although his moves are considered by many to be the only solution to get out of the stalemate in which the Federation is, the extended Trojka, in agreement with the Party for BiH and the NES, sent a clear message to the address of the OHR.
“We are not in favor of temporary solutions, we are in favor of permanent solutions, and given Mr. Schmidt’s unpredictability, I don’t think there is a person who can predict what is on his mind, what and when he intends to do, because he unpleasantly surprised us all on election night.” pointed out Damir Masic, president of the SDP Caucus in the FBiH House of Representatives.
However, not everyone is opposed to the one-time decisions of the High Representative. It has long been known that the leader of the HDZ BiH is a supporter of that option because he believes that it would be in his favor. He does not accept long-term solutions, and on Covic’s statement that there will be no concessions to the Eight, Damir Masic sees the power in the hands of Schmidt and not the leader of HDZ BiH.
“Who can give anyone a concession of any kind if the future solution is not a matter of political agreement, but of the will of what one man, a high representative, will do,” said Masic.
