The Peace Implementation Council Steering Board and the Board of Principals congratulate Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, also known as the Dayton Peace Agreement. The Agreement succeeded in ending the war and establishing a framework for rebuilding the country.

Following Dayton, there has been a positive transformation as the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have shown that they value peace and can look to the future.

But now it is time to fulfil the longing that citizens of BiH have for a future grounded in prosperity and stability, with good governance. This will require a greater commitment by BiH officials. This commitment should also include reconciliation amongst all peoples, building a mature democratic and functional country underpinned by the rule of law and respect for human rights. The international community remains ready to support and assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in achieving this goal.

The members of the Board of Principals joining this statement are: The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, United Nations in BiH, the Council of Europe, NATO HQ Sarajevo, EUFOR, Sweden, and Switzerland.
