Peace March: Over 6,000 Participants Reach Final Stage of Commemorative Journey

More than 6,000 Peace March participants continue their journey from the Mravinjci camp today.

Daily sections of 25 to 30 kilometers pass through mountain ranges and forest paths, often at the sites of mass graves and executions. Residents of returnee settlements welcome participants with hospitality along the way. Short history lessons and testimonies from survivors are held at certain points along the column.

Yesterday, they passed one of the most demanding routes from the Liplje camp to the village of Mravinjci, and although the route they took was additionally difficult due to weather conditions, they did not give up.

Today, participants will face one of the most memorable sections, where they will also pass by the so-called Bukve site, where 1,000 Srebrenica residents were killed, a very emotional location that evokes difficult memories of 1995.

It is important to note that the route the participants are taking is over 100 kilometers long. Although they have repeatedly said in interviews with media teams that, to say the least, this march is not easy, both physically and emotionally, they say that, despite everything, it is made easier by the fact that at least they know that they will survive, while the people of Srebrenica in 1995, without adequate clothing, food and water and fighting for their lives, could not even imagine this.

The participants of the Peace March will arrive today at around 6 pm at the Memorial Center, which will be the meeting place for several thousand people from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also from the world, who have walked, run and driven to Srebrenica in recent days in memory of the victims of genocide.

Together, they will attend the removal of the coffins with the remains of seven genocide victims, which will be buried tomorrow on the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica.
