In the coming period, persons who do not report domestic violence in Republika Srpska will be fined.

The new law stipulates punishments and up to 5,000 BAM for employees in the protection bodies who find out that violence has been committed, as well as citizens and family members who do not report domestic violence.

A police officer who does not comply with the obligations under this law will be punished, which will be considered at the session of the RS National Assembly on April 16th.

The Draft Law on Amendments to the Family Protection Law provides for the provision of urgent measures for the protection of the victim, and in the period of 30 days (if there are grounds for doing so) and protective measures can be imposed as well.

“At the same time, it is possible to apply protective measures to assist the offender by enabling to learn nonviolent forms of behavior in crisis situations and to learn to control their aggressive aspirations and to cure them from certain addictions.”
