Photo of the Memory of the destroyed City Hall

Sarajevo publicist Esad Lukac published today on his Facebook profile a photo of the destroyed City Hall, which he took at the end of October 1992. Along with the photo, he wrote: LOVE ALWAYS WINS. REMEMBERING THE CITY HALL, 1992.

“After the war, I tried to find out or find these two young people, but I didn’t succeed. I think it was the end of October and it seemed to me that in the ruins of the Town Hall you could still smell the smell of garbage and burning books, and they didn’t mind. They believed in love and that this is fleeting, and that one day, the City Hall will shine again in its golden colors,” said Lukac for Fena news agency.

Explaining how he ‘caught’ the moment of youthful infatuation in the ruined City Hall with his camera, which he almost never takes off, he says that he was coming from the opposite direction, that he had a 200 mm lens and some film, and he managed to do so. He says that during the war it was difficult to get film for the camera, and that every shot had to be saved. I was only trying to find out if these two young people survived the siege of Sarajevo and the war, but I didn’t find out,” says Lukac at the end of the conversation, whose artistic photos taken all over Bosnia and Herzegovina are particularly recognizable.
