The commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the formation of the First Mostar Brigade “Slavna”, which was supposed to be held on Monday in the Liska Harem in Mostar, was interrupted after a severed pig’s head was found in the cemetery complex.
According to the organizers, the pig’s head was left in the place where flowers were supposed to be laid and tributes were paid to the fallen fighters. After the discovery, the police were called, and the planned program at that location was suspended, reports Mostarski.ba.
The commemoration program was supposed to begin with the laying of flowers and tributes in the Liska harem, after which activities were planned at other locations in Mostar and Drežnica.
Organizers: An insult to the victims and their families
The organizers expressed their dismay and condemned the incident in the strongest terms, judging that it was a deliberate provocation aimed at the participants of the commemoration, but also at the victims of the Islamic religion who were buried at that site during the 1992 war.
They said that they expect the police to determine as soon as possible who is responsible for this act and under what circumstances the pig’s head was left in the cemetery complex.
