Sarajevo Zagađenje zrakaAt yesterday’s 51st session of the Canton Sarajevo government, a plan of emergency measures was adopted in cases of excessive air pollution in Sarajevo Canton.

Compared to earlier plans from 2003 and 2007, the new plan provides for operative and realistic conductive measures, and effective and timely response in crisis situations of excessive air pollution.

In the new plan, limits for air pollution harmonized with federal regulations, and tolerance levels for pollutants were introduced in Canton Sarajevo. Warnings were determined in case the value exceeds the set limit, the participation of the civil protection in implementing the plan is more clearly defined, and citizens would be able to use special eco phones to report suspected pollution from individual furnaces in order to ensure the efficient operation of the relevant entities.
