Migration Operations Staff Meeting on Tuesday discussed and adopted a plan of measures and activities for the effective management of the migrant crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the meeting in Sarajevo.

The comprehensive plan defines the challenges faced by competent migration institutions and sets the goals for future migration management in BiH and will be submitted to the BiH Council of Ministers.

During the meeting, it was strongly emphasized that BiH does not want to be a “hot spot” for illegal migrants, the first priority is to strengthen the BiH Border Police in order to better control the border and prevent illegal entry into BiH territory.

Also, the fight against migrant smuggling will be intensified.

The plan also envisages support for local communities establishing temporary reception centers.
