PM Novalic: Economic Indicators in 2021 in BiH are extremely good

Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalic commented on the economic situation in the Federation of BiH, emphasizing that the economic indicators in 2021 are extremely good.

“When it comes to the economic indicators that we send to Eurostat, which are the consumer price index and GDP, GDP is growing extremely well. This year, it will be 4 to 4.5 percent thanks to infrastructure works and exports. We feel it in our income as well, our income in the first seven months of 2021 is better than in 2019, which was the best post-war year “, said Novalic during his visit to the construction site of the Stolac – Neum road.
He found that average wages are also rising.

“Some say it’s because of the laid-off workers with the lowest wages, but it’s not about that. We only have seven thousand fewer employees because of the coronavirus, and 7,000 to half a million cannot affect the amount of salary. Obviously, the labor market has become different, more tense, there is no labor force and that is why employers have to pay more workers “, said Novalic.

According to him, during the first term of the current FBiH Government, GDP increased by five billion marks, while during the previous government, that growth amounted to one billion.

“If we were to measure our lives, it had to improve by a third in the last five or six years and that’s the way it is, we see it. 60 percent more cars are bought than in 2014, 60 percent more fuel is consumed, three billion more is spent in retail.

“Retail sales have risen by 27 percent, and in retail we are buying, not foreigners,” said the federal prime minister.

He added that the government can only rely on macroeconomic indicators, and “perceptions are something else, you can take perception to one side or the other through the media or politics.”
