Police Banned Announced Protests in Mostar

PROTESTI U MOSTARUThrough the social network Facebook, a protest was announced for today at 13:00 on Spanish Square in Mostar, which was confirmed by over 1400 people, said Fena.

In addition to the existing requirements, citizens are demanding the release of arrested protestors, and the resignation of the Mayor of Mostar Ljubo Bešlić. On the other hand, the Mostar police has banned today’s protests.

‘’We will not allow any form of gathering that is not in accordance with the law, protests which are not announced’’, said Spokesperson for the HNK Ministry of Interior Srećko Bošnjak for radiosarajevo.ba.

‘’We ask all citizens of Mostar to participate this time in peaceful protests on Spanish Square today at 13:00. This will not be and is not allowed to be the end, because we have not accomplished anything’’, said in the call to citizens.

Protestors request solving the status of the workers of destroyed companies, to employ social workers in elementary and high schools, to ensure funds for unemployed mothers and to equalize social benefits on the area of the FB&H, as well as the right to life and the right to work.

Also, they are demanding the linear increase in pensions, the abolition of additional financing of deputies and staff in the administration on the basis of various commissions, abolition of salaries of ministers after their mandate is over, equalization of salaries of politicians with salaries of other employees of public and private sector, resignation of the government, resignation of the prime minister and ministers.
