150102070.1_xlDragisa and Mirjana Jovanovic from Trebinje, first in this region started to make banana liqueur, by which they became recognizable, along with a dozen types of home- made liqueurs and brandies. The demand for the patented product is constantly increasing.

Although they are living in Trebinje, this couple find ideas for a good wine twenty kilometers from the city, in the village Nudo, where they are building a house in which they taste ingredients and manage to find a real taste and satisfy their customers.

Dragisa says that they reached their goal with the banana liqueur, which brought him a solid income, adding that anyone who tries it- comes back for another bottle.

“Considering that I do beekeeping for thirty years, I often went to trade fairs and presented products. I would come back with the acknowledgement, while my fellow citizens, presenting drinks, were counting money on the way back home“, says Dragisa.

Honey and brandy of 50 degrees

Then he came up with the idea to create and earn something, and that something was banana liqueur.

The bases for this drink are honey and home- made brandy made on 50 degrees Celsius. It is then united and placed in one container with bananas are stirred for a few months until the smell of banana is removed.

“Liqueur is made as a little stronger drink of 50°, because I didn’t want our ladies to remain deprived of a good drink, because they are my best customers“, said Dragisa through laughter.

With a few more ingredients, which remain secret, couples by  tasting and suggestion of neighbors, excellent banana liqueur that reaches a price of up to 30 BAM is made.

Except Bosnians, this “sweet product“ is mostly bought by Montenegrins but also tourists that come to Trebinje.

Dragisa also plans production of banana brandy, but the problem is that he is not able to find this southern fruit in the amount he needs. Also, bananas should be good and fresh for this drink.

In any cold storage I cannot find the amount of bananas needed, that is 300 kilograms. I was looking for it in Podgorica and Niksic, I even applied to people who have discount stores, but I found none.
