Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Defense Minister Sifet Podzic met with Russian Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina Petr Ivantsov and the country’s Military Attaché in BiH, Ilya Skrebnev to discuss aspects of possible defense cooperation between the two countries.

Podzic welcomed Ambassador Ivantsov and informed him about the priorities of the work of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina in the coming period, and he also outlined plans in terms of modernization of BiH’s Armed Forces and the commitment of the BiH Ministry of Defense to improve and expand regional cooperation and beyond.

Ambassador Ivantsov expressed expectations for a more intensive cooperation.

He spoke about aspects of possible cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense, highlighting the Military International Games and the training of personnel.

Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia-Herzegovina Dragan Covic (HDZ party) will pay an official visit to the Russian Federation on February 10th and 11th, at the invitation of the President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko.

During the official stay in Moscow, it is also planned to visit the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and for Covic to hold a lecture at the Balkan Club of the Center for Studies of Southeast Europe.

Considering that the invitation of Moscow is mainly answered by the members of the leadership of the Serbian Parliamentary Assembly of the Serb people Nikola Spiric and Nebojsa Radmanovic, it remains unknown for now whether the invitation was strictly addressed to Dragan Covic.
