The cantonal public utility company “Vodovod i kanalizacija” Sarajevo has announced nightly water supply reductions in the entire Sarajevo Canton. As they stated, due to unfavorable hydrometeorological conditions, there was a significant drop in yield and water level at the main sources of the water supply system.
KJKP ViK Sarajevo explains that in order to protect the equipment and ensure the necessary water supplies in the reservoirs, they are forced to periodically suspend the water supply or reduce the pressure in the network.
“In order to prevent the operation of pump aggregates ‘dry’, to protect electromechanical and hydraulic equipment from breakdowns, i.e. cavitation, engine overheating and air entering the pressure pipelines, and to ensure the necessary accumulation in the reservoirs, we are forced to engage in periodic suspensions of water supply, i.e. pressure reduction in the network. Planned areas and dates of application of the measures are introduced in the entire Sarajevo Canton,” stated KJKP ViK Sarajevo.
The period of suspension of water supply, i.e. pressure reduction, will be from midnight to 5 am.
KJKP ViK Sarajevo warns that during the implementation of measures there may be a decrease in pressure on the upper floors of collective housing buildings, as well as in hillside settlements.
“We ask consumers for their understanding,” KJKP ViK Sarajevo announced.
