tartufo (1)The cultivation of truffles could soon become the business of the future for BiH farmers.

Speficifically, the London-based company “Green Laboratories” is interested to give out free hazel seedlings, at the root of which is the seed of this most expensive mushroom in the world.

The Director of ‘’Green Laboratories’’ in Banja Luka Senka Gatarić told ‘Dnevni Avaz’ that the climate conditions are favorable for growing truffles in BiH, so that, in addition to offices in the RS, they plan to open branches in the FBIH.

She pointed out that there are two basic conditions for entering this business. The first is the necessity to have a registered parcel of land and that the land is suitable for the growing of truffles.

“Producers will sign an agreement at 20 years with the company, and it states that ‘Green Laboratories’ will ensure the purchase of truffles and hazelnuts at world prices. The price of truffles per kilogram start range from 1.000 to 5.000 euros, and hazelnuts at five euros’’, explained Gatarić.

“Planting is expected in the autumn. Seedlings will be freely given out, even if each one costs 30 euros. Therefore, when the truffles and hazelnuts are purchased, of the obtained income 70 percent goes to the producers, and 30 percent to the company’’, said Gatarić and added that there is no product that delivers this much revenue with guaranteed prices’’, in a statement to ‘Dnevni Avaz’.
