Prayer Breakfast in Mostar sends Message of Togetherdness and Cooperation

A prayer breakfast for Southeast Europe, modeled on a traditional gathering organized in Washington for nearly seven decades, will be held this year from May 27th to 29th in Mostar.

The purpose of the event is to promote the principles of togetherness and cooperation and understanding and respect among individuals, as well as among peoples and nations in this part of the world.

Their participation was confirmed by U.S. Congressmen Robert Aderholt and John Moolenaar, who led a prayer breakfast in Washington last year. The arrival of parliamentarians from the European Parliament is expected, as well as the national parliaments of the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Hungary and members of the parliaments of the countries of Southeast Europe.

As announced by the organizers, some of the participants, primarily US officials who will attend a prayer breakfast in Mostar, are expected to visit Sarajevo to meet with representatives of state institutions. During the two-day event in Mostar, a Security Forum is also planned, which is traditionally part of a prayer breakfast in Washington.

“After the successful elections and the establishment of new government structures, the ‘Prayer Breakfast’ will provide an opportunity for the city of Mostar to take another very positive step and position it as a meeting and cooperation area for the entire region of Southeast Europe,” Dalibor Milos, president, told Fena news agency.

He was in Washington last week to meet with two senators and six congressmen who supported the ‘Prayer Breakfast’ in the Neretva City.

“The event, in itself, has no direct political connotations, but it strongly testifies to the fact that Mostar and BiH can count on the help and support of all participants in this event on the path to their social well-being,” the organizers said.

The tradition of organizing a prayer breakfast in the United States dates back to 1953. It is conceived and organized as a forum where the political, social and economic elite gathers, which in the spirit of prayer and togetherness seeks to send a message to the whole world about the need for deeper mutual understanding and more intensive cooperation in achieving common goals.

Due to compliance with epidemiological measures, the number of participants in the ‘Prayer Breakfast’ in Mostar is limited to 30 guests.
