What do the Preliminary Results of Elections say?

fah-izbori-bihWhen it comes to municipalities in the Sarajevo Canton, President of the Cantonal Board of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Asim Sarajlić stated that the expects at least seven mayor positions in the canton.

Chief of Election Staff of SDA Halid Genjac believes that SDA will keep the status of the most powerful political party in BiH. His belief is based on the total number of votes that this party collected in the local elections, and based on the number of mayor positions and the number of councilors.

“Elections went by mostly in peace, without major incidents, except that one in Stolac. For example, we already know that a mayor from SDA party was chosen in Sanski Most, Tešanj and Banovići. Quite convincingly, the results announce victory of SDA candidate for mayor in Zenica. We are also in a good position in the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo,” Genjac said.

Secretary General of SDA Amir Zukić has similar expectations. Couple hours after the polling places closed, he stated he is satisfied with the information gathered so far.

Data processed so far say that candidates of the coalition SDA – SBB are in the lead in eight out of nine Sarajevo municipalities, with the exception of the Municipality of Stari Grad for which the preliminary data is not available yet. According to preliminary information, candidates of the mentioned coalition are leading in 28 municipalities in FBiH.

Despite the information provided by the candidate of Serb parties for the mayor of Srebrenica Mladen Grujičić, Genjac stated that the matter of the mayor of this municipality is far from settled.

“Srebrenica is a very complicated location for data processing because there are three categories of voters there – in absence via mail, from abroad, and in person. According to the data we get, results are tight. However, when all results add up, we are expecting Duraković to win,” Genjac said.
