The Foreign Affairs Council of the EU, appointed Lars-Gunnar Wigemark for the Special Representative of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as announced from the EU.
Lars-Gunnar Wigemark currently performs the function of the Head of the EU Delegation in Pakistan and has more than 30 years of experience in Swedish and European diplomatic services.
He has been working in diplomatic missions, including Moscow and Washington, including the Head of the Security Policy in the European commission and also in the cooperation in development and administration.
Lars-Gunnar Wigemark succeeds Peter Sorensen on this function, who has been performing that function from 1st September 2011. Wigemark will take the duty in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 1st March 2015.
On the occasion of this appointment, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy and Vice- President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, said that the European Union is dedicated to providing support fro Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European journey.
-The expertise of Mr. Wigemark will be important contribution to our engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as for External Affairs of the EU- she said.
