koliCroatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is the winner of the award that carries the name of the founder of the BH capital Sarajevo, Isa-Bey Ishaković, for the year 2015 and the award is presented by the non-governmental association Klepsidra, whose headquarters is in the capital of B&H.

This information was confirmed on Monday by the monsignor Franjo Topić, the member of the jury that brought this decision.

„It is, above all, a recognition for the activities of the President Grabar-Kitarović and her efforts in building good relations with B&H“, said Topić.

He added that the Jordanian Queen Noor and the former US President Bill Clinton were also  in the competition for the winners of this award.

Topić emphasized that the members of the jury for the presentation of the prize, consisted of 24 members, agree that it is of great importance for B&H to build as closer and as better possible ties with Croatia as a next-door neighbor with whom there are already numerous and widespread connections.

The Klepsidra association, which was founded in 2005 with the aim of promoting multicultural and multiethnic heritage, last year presented this award to the Slovenian president Borut Pahor, and earlier winners are the current president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the President of Austria Heinz Fischer.

The „Isa-Bey Ishaković“ award is named after the Ottoman governor of Bosnia from the 15th century, who is considered one of the founders of Sarajevo as an urban center in that period.

Monsignor Topić said that it is expected that the award will be presented to the Croatian President in September, when her arrival in Sarajevo is scheduled.
