The Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the host and organizer of the world prestigious ”World Press Photo exhibition”, which will be on view on the museum plateau from October 1 to October 22 this year.

The exhibition shows the most successful photos of the winners of the World Press Photo competition in the field of photo journalism for this year. The competition, which has been organized since 1955, pays tribute to professional photographers for the best photography in a certain category.

The photographs are presented as stand-alone or in the form of stories in eight categories.

This year, 4,282 photographers from 125 countries took part in the competition – with a total of 73,996 photographs.

Through the presented photos, visitors will have the opportunity to see scenes that recontextualize the current problems of modern society. Since 2019, among others, there is an award for photo story of the year, which pays tribute to a photographer whose creativity and skills visually represent a story of great documentary significance. The award-winning photographs were presented at a traveling exhibition in 120 cities and 50 countries during the year, and were viewed by more than 4 million people worldwide, Radio Sarajevo reports.

The Sarajevo exhibition is being realized with the help of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
