Pobunjenik M.K. citaca proba 2The first reading rehearsal for the play “Pobunjenik M.K.”, directed by Nermin Hamzagić was held yesterday in Sarajevo, while three theatrical centers -International Theater Festival Mess, National Theater Sarajevo and East West Center are participating in production. The director Hamzagić in cooperation with colleague Asja Karsmanović have done the dramatization of the novel “Mihael Kolhas” of Heinrich von Kleist. Actors in this ensemble consist of : Dženana Džanić, Maja Izetbegović, Enes Salković, Aleksandar Seksan, Vedrana Seksan and Amar Selimović.

“Pobunjenik M.K.” raises the question of the legitimacy of rebellion and searches for the boundary that separates justice from injustice. In front of us is a process where we will together explore the personal motives for rebellion”, explained Director Hamzagić.

This inspirational text speaks about a man who decided to oppose an unjust system. Mihael Kolhas is a horse trader and during one trip to the farm of a royal family, horses were taken away. After the corrupt bureaucratic system rejects the lawsuit against royalty, Kolhas decides to put justice in place through violence. Kleist’s novel was created based on a true story of 16th century, and is very relevant even today as we witness the constant social troubles throughout Europe.

The premiere of this play is planned for the middle of April at the National Theater in Sarajevo.
