The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against Dragan Jevtić, born in 1965 in Zvornik, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, Slavko Bogićević, aka “Brko”, born in 1955 in Zvornik, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Damjan Lazarević (born 1953) in Zvornik, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They are charged with knowingly aiding and abetting the commission of the crime of genocide against Bosniak victims after the fall of the UN-protected area of Srebrenica during a widespread and systematic attack by the VRS and the RS MUP.

They are accused of having, in their capacity as commanders of the Engineering Company within the Zvornik Brigade of the VRS in mid-July 1995, participated in the preparation of locations for mass executions, as well as in securing machinery and soldiers for the burial of the bodies of the executed victims of the Srebrenica genocide, namely at least 860 victims at the Orahovac site, at least 815 victims at the Petkovci-dam site, at least 844 victims at the Kozluk-šljunkara site, and at least 1,752 victims at the Pilica-Branjevo site.

They are also charged with having, during September and October 1995, acting in coordination and agreement with the structures of the Zvornik Brigade and the VRS Main Staff, organized and participated in the removal of the bodies of the killed from primary locations to at least 24 secondary graves in the wider Zvornik area, with the aim of concealing the crime committed and making it difficult to find the remains. The defendants are charged with the crime of genocide under Article 171 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

“This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. Everyone is presumed innocent of a criminal offense until proven guilty by a final verdict (Article 3, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH),” the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH said in a statement.
