Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed an Indictment against Six Persons for Genocide in Srebrenica

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against six people for the genocide in Srebrenica.

Charges have been brought against:Lazar Ristić, born in 1958 in Zvornik, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mihajlović Mladen, born in 1973 in Bregenz, Austria, citizen of BiH, Milošević Sreten, born in 1959 in Kladnje, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia, Ivanović Dragoje, born in 1967 in Zvornik, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Stanoje Birčaković, born in 1972 in Zvornik, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Milorad Birčaković, born in 1963 in Zvornik, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The defendants are accused of knowingly providing assistance to members of a joint criminal enterprise in the capacity of former high-ranking officials and members of the Zvornik Brigade during the widespread and systematic attack by the Army of the Republika Srpska and the Ministry of Interior of the RS directed against the Bosniak civilian population in the area of the United Nations protected area of Srebrenica. committing genocide against Bosniak victims after the fall of the UN protected zone of Srebrenica.

The indictment states that the accused participated in the capture and forced imprisonment of more than 800 Bosniak men and boys in the gymnasium of the “Grbavci” school in Orahovac, and in the operation to transport the prisoners to the shooting site in locations near the school, where more than 800 victims were shot, and the victims’ bodies were buried in two mass graves using machinery. According to the indictment, in order to hide the committed crime, members of the military police company and the rear company of the Zvornik Brigade removed traces of the capture and execution of prisoners around the school and in the gymnasium.

The defendants are accused of having committed the criminal offense of genocide.

The prosecution will prove the allegations of the indictment by hearing 141 witnesses, including several witnesses with protective measures, findings and opinions of military and medical experts, as well as by submitting more than 500 material pieces of evidence.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
