Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has not received Reports of Security Agencies about HR Schmidt

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not receive reports from security agencies with findings on the stay of High Representative Christian Schmidt in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Srna was told in this judicial institution.

“The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not receive from the law enforcement agencies a report on the committed criminal offense under the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated in response to Srna’s question whether this judicial institution received reports from security agencies about the findings of Schmidt’s stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina and whether he is conducting an investigation.

Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nenad Nešić yesterday called on the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to urgently conduct an investigation into, as he stated, “the illegal and false representation of Schmidt as a high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and his activities, and to inform the public about the results”.

He announced that he himself is ready to respond to the invitation of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office and present all the evidence in the interest of respecting the law.

Nešić, presenting information from security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina about Schmidt’s stay, stated that he only has a diplomatic note from Germany, but not the UN as the only competent institution for confirming the appointment of a high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He pointed out that he received an answer from the BiH Border Police that Schmidt brought three “long barrels” into BiH last year, which he has no right to according to the current laws relating to weapons, and that these weapons were subsequently returned to Germany.

Nešić said that it was a failure of the domestic security institutions, especially the BiH Border Police, stating that foreign diplomats, who come with security, do not have the right to bring in weapons that are declared as “long barrels” in BiH.

The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina said that “whenever Schmidt comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina, he should announce to the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina his stay here, as well as an armed escort in order to be granted entry”.

He stated that Schmidt is not currently being protected by the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies, but that he has an armed escort from Germany.
