Public Debate in Sarajevo on Future of Implementation of Sejdić-Finci Case

sejdic_finciACIPS, Coalition ‘Jednakost’, Coalition ‘Prvi Mart’, and the Association ‘Zašto Ne’ will organize in Sarajevo today a public debate on the topic ‘Future of the Implementation of Sejdić-Finci Case’.

The aim of the public discussion is to establish principles and models for the implementation of the decision of the Court in Strasbourg that are acceptable to civil society and political structures in order to break the ‘vicious circle’ of unsuccessful party negotiations that moves B&H farther away from civil and democratic society, announced the organizers.

Years of political negotiations and secret meetings of party leaders on the implementation of the decision in the ‘Sejdić-Finci’ case resulted in proposals for constitutional reform that are the complete opposite of the essence of the decision of the European Court for Human Rights.

The organizers believe that this process has repeatedly proved unsuccessful and that it is time to include the general public, with an emphasis on civil society.
